I have a 3.47 going into 4th year university at McGill univeristy. Grading policies are tough here. I have one more year, and am getting quite involved for 4th year. Where do you think I can get into? Will I have to do really well on my LSATs to get in?

Civil Law at Ottawa U

Hey all,

I know most of you have applied or are interested in the common law program, but I was wondering if any of you have information on the civil law program at the U of O. There's not a whole lot of information on admissions requirements; just the number of post-secondary credits needed. Anyone know how many places there are, how many applicants, average gpa, etc? Thanks for the help!

In an effort to balance the scales a bit (and so we don't scare the newbies too much), can we hear from some 1Ls who are enjoying law school so far?

Personally, I've had a great first two weeks. I've been homesick to the point of crying (this doesn't leave the board!), but the great profs and friendly students at Dal consistently make me forget my worries... at least during the day. The orientation events were a lot of fun, and everyone seems to be relatively laidback and...

How are GPAs calculated by the admissions departments? If your school uses a 4.0 scale, do they just use whatever it says on your transcript, or do they still change it the way OMSAS calculates it? Cause for me, the OMSAS calculation would bump me down a bit (from 3.65 to 3.62). fliime, would that affect your prediction? (especially since I'm applying during third year, in which case I'd be evaluated more harshly) Thanks.
